Scan tools detecting the problem

Certified technicians will use a scan tool tracking down the problem.

Whether your check engine light turned on, your vehicle is stalling, or your car just isn’t driving like it should, diagnostic services can help to guide our problem solving. Our expert auto technicians will use cutting-edge diagnostic computers to diagnose your car’s issue, identify repairs to get your car running well again, and get you back on the road.

What Types of Problems Do Diagnostic Services Detect?

When a light flickers on your dashboard, it can signal everything from a gas cap that needs to be properly tightened to a major braking system issue. Ignoring the lights on your dashboard can lead to major engine damage or car failure, depending on what the problem illuminating your dashboard.

Diagnostic services detect problems including:

  • Reason why warning lights are illuminated (check engine, anti-lock brake system, battery, etc.)
  • Emissions failures
  • Engine or transmission problems
  • Steering difficulties

What Does a Diagnostic Service Look Like?

First, our technicians will talk with you to see when the problem began occurring, what lights were illuminated in the vehicle, and any other useful background information. Next, we use our computer scanning technology to look through your car’s computer system and detect computer codes, freeze frame data, computer software version information, and sensor data. Once our technician has an idea of where the problem is, they will perform additional tests for an accurate diagnosis. Additional tests can include mechanical and electrical engine timing, examining the fuel system or emissions system, checking the fuel system, and testing engine vacuum and back pressure.

After eliminating common “false positive” results in your system, our technician will conduct pinpoint testing to identify the exact problem. This advanced testing can involve looking at wiring diagrams, performing additional electrical and mechanical tests, performing bi-directional control tests, and performing visual inspections of the area. Next, we will perform the appropriate repair for your car, including:

  • Part replacement
  • Cleaning connections, components, or passages
  • Updating your vehicle according to manufacturer bulletins if there is a manufacturer-noted problem
  • Updating your vehicle’s software
  • Wiring replacement or repair
